What is Hypnotherapy?
Jul 09, 2024You’ve probably seen the videos of the guys putting strangers to sleep, “stealing their thoughts,” and making them cluck like chickens all over social media and thought…”That’s either B.S or it is super scary”
And I get it. It’s bad enough we have to worry about our phone constantly tracking us. And you’re telling me there’s people that can actually control us?
But here’s what you need to know about hypnotherapy.
There is only a very small percentage of the population that can be hypnotized to those extremes. And even then, it can only be done with their consent.
You can not be hypnotized into robbing a bank or hurting someone because it is just not something you would actually ever do. You will never ever ever do in hypnotherapy something that you would never do in a fully alert state.
And here’s another thing, hypnotherapy is different from hypnosis.
Hypnosis is the process of commanding your mind to do something. While hypnosis is used often in conjunction with hypnotherapy, they are two separate things.
Hypnotherapy is the process of putting your nervous system to sleep, and bypassing your conscious mind for a purpose.
That purpose is different for everyone.
For one person it might be to heal from trauma like sexual abuse, parental neglect or infidelity. For another it might be to change a habit. And for yet another, it might be to become the best at something.
When you experience a trauma, your brain takes that trauma and creates a story. That story is then used as a filter in your life to keep you safe. So from the moment you experience the trauma, your belief system upgrades to accommodate that experience.
For example, If you’ve experienced infidelity, your brain might upgrade its beliefs to be “don’t trust men.” “Men are bad.” “I am not built for love”
As a result, you might either avoid men, put them down, or turn to extreme feminism. You may reject any forms of affection from men and swear off love altogether.
Alternatively, you may double down on wanting to feel safe around love again, so you settle for anyone who shows you the slightest bit of affection. Even if they aren’t good for you.
With Hypnotherapy, you can find the root cause of your fear of men (often involving the trauma) and you can safely heal it by changing the meaning of the story subconsciously.
This is a much better way to heal than traditional therapy because your nervous system is asleep so there is no “retriggering” when revisiting the past.
Additionally, Hypnotherapy has an over 90% success rate because of its ability to get down to the root cause of an issue.
This is because with traditional therapy you may be confronted with a question like “why do you procrastinate so much?”
And your instinct might be to give the most obvious answers. They usually sound like
“I’m just so overwhelmed”
“I’m tired”
“I don’t know”
“Something to do with my parents”
But with hypnotherapy, you can pinpoint the exact moments (down to the time of day) that your brain decided procrastination was needed for survival.
Once you have that information you can then immediately change it while under hypnosis to change the story and heal it.
And if you change the meaning your mind gives to things, you change your reaction to them. You change the way you take action and the way you see life.
And of course, if you can do that you have that much less resistance and much higher chances than the average person to complete your goals.
All this to say Hypnotherapy is basically therapy without:
The ability to lie. When you’re under hypnotherapy, you bypass your conscious mind so you’re not worried about feeling ashamed or embarrassed. You don’t feel the need to give “the right answers.” You allow yourself to speak freely and share the truth of what would help you heal.
The unsureness. During hypnotherapy, you are getting answers straight from your subconscious so you don’t have to worry about not knowing why you do the things you do. You are always going to receive an answer through your mind or your body.
The time commitment. Hypnotherapy (RTT hypnotherapy in particular) tends to work in as little as one session. Full changes in your belief system can be experienced in as little as 21 days. This is largely due to the two benefits mentioned above. When you know exactly where you are looking for the information to heal and when you work with that information in an efficient way, it tends to cut on a lot of time.
If you are looking for support to heal or change a current coping mechanism (or if you just want to become even more amazing) you can book your RTT Session HERE
